Sarnia police arrest suspect in homicide investigation

A 40-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested and charged in connection to the city's first homicide investigation of the year.

Sarnia police responded to a Queen Street apartment near Devine Street at around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday and found a man's body.

The case, originally deemed a suspicious death on Wednesday, was upgraded to a homicide investigation on Thursday.

Sarnia police said a male suspect was arrested without incident by the Operations Division in the early morning hours Friday.

Police said Adam Michael Bishop was held in custody pending a bail hearing, charged with first degree murder and indignity to a dead body.

Sarnia police also identified the victim as Christopher Michael Bond, 66, of Sarnia.

City police are asking anyone with information in regards to the incident, or who has video surveillance in the area of the 200 block of Queen Street on February 21, to contact the Criminal Investigation Division at (519) 344-8861 extension 5300 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
