The Sarnia Police Services Board has appointed Paul Wiersma to lead the group for 2024.
This is his second run at the position after he was first elected in February 2023.
Kelly Ash was also re-elected to the role of vice chair during Thursday's board meeting.
Wiersma thanked the board for having faith in him to lead the group once again.
"I started as board chair last year at this time and I think we've made a number of successes throughout the year in terms of board governance and I'm really glad that we can continue those initiatives," said Wiersma.
He said for this year, it will be putting together a facilities plan, working in conjunction with the City of Sarnia.
"We're looking at what is this facility going to look like five or 10 years from now, and how do we ensure that it meets our operational requirements," Wiersma said.
According to Wiersma, budget pressures will continue throughout 2024.
"They're always a concern because policing is a 24/7 business where a lot of the work is unpredictable making sure that we have the resources to be able to ensure we have adequate policing, that's the challenge," he said.
