Lambton's Pretty captures OCAA top player honours

Sarnia's Breanna Pretty of Lambton College has been named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Year.

The awards were handed out earlier this week.

The fourth-year student-athlete was among the top 10 in several categories during the regular season. She ranked seventh with 224 points, fourth with 62 assists, and eighth with 45 steals.

Pretty averaged 14 points and 6.8 rebounds playing in all 18 games, guiding the Lions to a West Division championship.

She was also named a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian, and headlines the West Division First-Team All-Stars.

Meanwhile, Lambton's Emily Van Hooft of Sarnia is the West Division Sixth Woman of the Year. The third-year guard played in all 16 games, making just one start, but contributing 9.9 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.

Sarnia native Skyla Minaker of Mohawk College is the West Division Defensive Player of the Year.

The fifth-year point guard was third among all OCAA student-athletes with 55 steals while adding 56 defensive rebounds.

Minaker is also a West Division First-Team All-Star.
