Update: Man taken into custody after 'high risk incident' closes stretch of Exmouth

Sarnia police have a man in custody and are investigating what they call a "high risk incident" that forced the closure of a stretch of Exmouth Street.

Police responded to Exmouth between Trillium Park and the Highway 402 off-ramp for a weapons call on Monday. Officers closed that stretch of Exmouth to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Just before 4 p.m., police announced that the situation had been resolved.

"Sarnia Police have taken a male suspect into custody without incident," police said in a post on "X" (formerly Twitter). "A police presence will remain in the area for investigative purposes, and Exmouth Street is now reopened to the public."

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861.
