Sarnia Sting sign Slovakian import pick

The Sarnia Sting have signed Slovakian prospect Roman Kukumberg to an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Standard Player Agreement.

The 18-year-old Bratislava native was taken 43rd overall by the Sting in this year's CHL import draft.

Kukumberg had six goals and eight assists in 38 regular season games played with the Slovan Bratislava team in the SvkE this past season.

The left handed winger also represented Slovakia in multiple international tournaments over the last two seasons.

He scored a goal and added three assists in seven games played in the 2023 U18 World Hockey Championships.

Sarnia Sting General Manager Dylan Seca is pleased.

"We are thrilled to get all the paperwork completed and to officially welcome Roman to the Sarnia Sting," said Seca. "Sting fans will like his work ethic and competitiveness, it fits the type of team we are building here in Sarnia."

The Sting will hold training camp later this month in preparation for the 2023-24 regular season.

The campaign gets underway on Friday, September 29 when the Sting host the Windsor Spitfires at Progressive Auto Sales Arena at 7:05 p.m.

You can buy season seats now by visiting the Mainstreet Credit Union Box Office or online at tickets.sarniasting.com.
