Lambton OPP Festive RIDE nabs 11th driver

Lambton OPP has already laid 11 impaired driving charges through its annual Festive RIDE program.

The most recent case involved a 31-year-old Brooke-Alvinston man in Watford early Sunday.

Cst. Jamie Bydeley said at around 12:15 a.m., officers at a RIDE checkpoint on Nauvoo Road noticed a vehicle being driven erratically.

Police spoke with the driver and arrested him for impaired. He was then taken to an OPP detachment where he provided two breath samples over the legal limit.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Bydeley is reminding the public that the Festive RIDE season is ongoing through to the beginning of January. He said those who see a driver who may be impaired by alcohol or drugs are asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or *OPP (677) on a mobile phone.
