United Way campaign reaches 50 per cent mark

The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign is halfway there.

The annual fundraising effort is up $55,000 over last week, for a total of $835,000 or 50.6 per cent of the $1.65 million needs target.

The organization reached the milestone with the completion of industrial campaigns from Pembina, INEOS Styrolution and others.

"We're grateful to have reached the 50 per cent mark, but we still have work to do," said Campaign Chair Vicky Ducharme in a news release. "These are trying times. Inflation is impacting young families and seniors in our community."

The United Way of Sarnia-Lambton funds 17 local agencies providing over 31 programs and services in three target areas, From Poverty to Possibility, All That Kids Can Be and Healthy People-Strong Communities.

The annual fundraising campaign wraps up at the end of December.
