Lambton Shores to host household hazardous waste collection event

A mobile event is being held in Lambton Shores Saturday, to collect household hazardous waste from residents in north and east Lambton.

Lambton County Public Works and Clean Harbors Canada have partnered for the event at the public works depot, at 6958 Townsend Line, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"Corrosive, toxic, reactive and flammable materials will be collected at the mobile depot," said Public Works Manager Matt Deline. "These items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they have the potential to injure sanitation workers and the potential to damage our environment."

Examples of the materials include batteries, drain and oven cleaners, pool chemicals, aerosols, paints, and propane cylinders.

Commercial, industrial, and radioactive wastes, electronics, and explosives like flares and ammunition will not be accepted.
