Sarnia hires new communications manager

The City of Sarnia has added a new manager of communications to its team.

Steve Henschel will step into the role effective June 27.

He previously worked as a communications officer for the City of St. Catharines. He also spent nine years with Niagara This Week as a writer and photographer.

The city said Henschel holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science and Professional Writing from Brock University, as well as a diploma in Print Journalism from Niagara College.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining the stellar team at the City of Sarnia and establishing meaningful, two-way dialogue with our residents, engaging them in a transparent decision-making process while ensuring they get the information they need most, in whatever way suits them best,” said Henschel in a statement. “It’s a tremendous opportunity to build trust with residents and promote the successes of our community.”

The city began its search for a new communications manager earlier this year, asking for applications to be submitted by March 13.
