Global Donuts has teamed up with the Sarnia District Humane Society for another donut campaign.
On June 2, the London Line eatery will offer a specialty custard filled donut with all of the proceeds going to the local animal shelter.
Humane Society Capital Campaign Manager Adelle Richards said there's no better way to celebrate Pet Appreciation Week. She said it's the second year for the campaign.
"We're hoping that Global Donuts, Gus Pantazis and his team, will make between 1,500 and 2,000 donuts. Last year we hit over 3,000."
Global has hosted similar donut campaigns this year in support of the Sarnia Lambton United Way, the Lambton Centre Youth Summer Camp, the Canadian Mental Health Association Lambton Kent, and the Huron House Boys' Home.
Richards said the Sarnia-Lambton community is always supportive of a good cause.
"And they always rally when it comes to fundraising efforts on behalf of the Humane Society, and everyone loves Global Donuts."
Richards said the money will help with the shelter's pet care needs. She said with it being kitten season, they're getting a lot of abandoned kittens and pregnant cats.
The Humane Society is also hosting a garage sale fundraiser Saturday, June 4 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event from 131 Exmouth Street will feature items for pets, cats, turtles, birds and other animals, along with snow cones, cotton candy, popcorn and inflatables.
