CANstruction aims to 'Make Hunger History'

Local schools, businesses and community groups will be showing off their creative skills at Lambton Mall Saturday.

It’s the ninth annual CANstruction for the Inn of the Good Shepherd. This year's theme is "Make Hunger History".

Executive Director Myles Vanni said all of the cans and boxes of food used to put together the structures, will help feed families in need.

"We're hoping to get about 30,000 pounds of food," said Vanni. "The structures will be up for several weeks at the mall. They come in on April 12th to tear everything down and all that food comes back to the Inn, and 30,000 pounds of food is about a three week supply for us."

Judging is set for Sunday, March 27.

Awards will be handed out for Best Use of Labels, Best Meal, Most Cans, Rookie Team, Structural Ingenuity, Junior Outstanding Structure, Judges Favourite and Best Use of Theme.

Residents can vote for their favourite with a donation for the Inn. The one that raises the most money by April 10 will be awarded People's Choice.
