A Kettle and Stony Point woman, convicted in the fatal stabbing of her brother-in-law, has been sentenced to two years of house arrest.
Tina George, 38, was charged with second-degree murder following the death of 29-year-old Jesse Storr on April 29, 2018. George pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges in October, 2021.
On Tuesday, Superior Court Justice Bruce Thomas sentenced George to two years of incarceration, less one day, to be served in the community. Thomas said he's satisfied that allowing George to serve this sentence in the community would not pose a danger to public safety.
Before rendering his decision, Thomas read an agreed statement of facts connected to Storr's death. He detailed how Storr assaulted George and her sister as the women attempted to leave a home on Egremont Road in Warwick Township. George then attempted to retrieve her sister and leave for a second time before she grabbed a steak knife and stabbed Storr in the chest.
Storr, a father of three, was found at around 2:30 p.m. after OPP responded to a report of an injured man. He was treated by paramedics and later died of his injuries.
Conditions of George's sentence include staying in the province of Ontario, remaining on the property of her residence except for certain circumstances, and no drugs or alcohol. Following the completion of the conditional sentence order, George will be placed on a period of probation for three years.
