Officials with the Sarnia-Lambton United Way are hoping things pick up as the annual fundraising campaign enters week 11. Executive Director Dave Brown said so far, $920,000 has been raised, or 53 per cent of the $1.75 million target. Brown said they're hoping a couple of larger industrial campaigns will help as they enter the final stretch. "We have two of the three largest campaigns still running and we have very little dollars reported so far," said Brown. "So at some point, once they close, which would likely be the middle of next week, we should see quite a spike." He said so far, 1,730 donors have contributed to this year's campaign. "Because we picked up some new donors already this campaign, the donors are closer to where we were at this time last year, but dollar wise, we're continuing to lag about two or three per cent from last year's pace." The United Way helps fund 20 local agencies providing 40 programs and services. To find out more or to donate online visit https://www.theunitedway.on.ca/
