Water levels expected to rise again

Water levels may have receded a bit this week, but they're expected to rise again shortly.

The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority has issued another flood watch with upwards of 30 millimetres of rain expected Friday and Saturday.

Saturated soil combined with the expected rain may elevate water levels and increase the potential for minor flooding in natural floodplain areas.

The authority said even though water levels in the Brigden area are starting to plateau, several roads remain closed due to flooding.

Waterworks Road from Moore Line to Courtright Line is closed, as is Fairweather Road between Oil Springs Line and Aberfeldy Line, Pretty Road from Stanley Line to McCallum Line and Stanley Line from Kimball Road to Waubuno Road.

Individuals are reminded to avoid watercourses and flooded areas due to dangerous conditions, slippery banks and cold, swift moving water. Children and pets should be kept away from the water.

The flood watch will remain in effect until Monday, November 1, 2021.
