The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority (SCRCA) has issued a flood warning following heavy rainfall across the region.
The conservation authority said areas across the watershed are reporting between 50 and 115 millimetres of rainfall over the past two days.
Environment Canada issued a rainfall warning for Sarnia-Lambton on Tuesday and it's expected the rain will continue into Thursday.
A gale wind warning is also in effect for lakes St. Clair and Huron, which could result in minor coastal flooding. Northerly winds could gust up to 90 kilometres per hour over Lake Huron, which could create waves up to four metres in height Wednesday evening.
"High amounts of rainfall in a short period of time can lead to increased runoff and flash flooding, particularly in urban areas," read a SCRCA release.
Some roads that may be impacted by flooding include Telfer Road between Courtright Line and Moore Line, Fairweather Road between Oil Springs Line and Aberfeldy Line, Stanley Line between Kimball Road and Waubuno Road, Pretty Road north of McCallum Line, and Waterworks Road north of Courtright Line.
Water levels have exceeded bankfull conditions into natural floodplain areas, parks, and farmland in and around Alvinston, Brigden and Florence.
Residents are advised to avoid shorelines and flooded areas for safety reasons.
The warning is expected to remain in effect until Friday.
