U.S. extends border restrictions for another month

It will be at least another month before Canadians can cross the border into the U.S. for non-essential purposes.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the extension of current restrictions at land crossings, including the Blue Water Bridge, until October 21.

However, the U.S. government did announce that all foreign nationals travelling by air, will have to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to enter the country by early November.

Travel restrictions have been in place since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, and have been renewed on a monthly basis.

The Canada border has been open to fully vaccinated American citizens and permanent residents since August 9.
