Homophobic messages at local church prompts police investigation

The Sarnia Police Service has launched an investigation after homophobic messages were left at Dunlop United Church.

Police responded to the Rosedale Avenue church Thursday evening and found the letters taped on the windows and doors.

In a post on Facebook, the church's minister, and NDP candidate for Sarnia-Lambton Adam Kilner, stated the "hateful messages" were taped all over the church sometime between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.

Cst. John Sottosanti said at this time there are no witnesses or surveillance video.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact police at 519-344-8861 extension 0, or Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers.
