UPDATE: Severe thunderstorms possible Tuesday

Environment Canada says severe thunderstorms are possible in Sarnia-Lambton Tuesday afternoon and through the evening hours.

The national weather agency issued a watch for the region just after 1 p.m.

Environment Canada said the strongest of these thunderstorms will be capable of producing strong wind gusts up to 110 km/h, large hail up to 2 cm in diameter and locally heavy rainfall.

A tornado warning was put into effect for Huron County at around 4:50 p.m, but has since ended. However, a severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Sarnia-Lambton at around 7:20 p.m.

As always, we're reminded that large hail can damage property and cause injury.

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.
