OPP nab a pair of alleged impaired drivers

Alleged erratic driver charged with impaired

A Petrolia man accused of driving erratically outside Sombra last week, has been charged with impaired.

Lambton OPP spotted the driver on St. Clair Parkway near Bickford Line at around 7:40 p.m. Friday and then initiated a traffic stop.

Police said it became apparent that the driver had consumed alcohol, leading to a roadside screening device being administered.  The driver later provided two breath samples over the legal limit at an OPP detachment.

The 29-year-old is scheduled to appear in court August 15.

Man charged with impaired shortly after avoiding R.I.D.E. checkpoint

OPP say a Plympton-Wyoming man was charged with impaired driving shortly after he avoided a police R.I.D.E. checkpoint early Sunday.

Officers were conducting the checkpoint on Broadway Street when they observed a vehicle make attempts to avoid a police interaction at around 2:10 a.m.

Police pulled over the vehicle and said the driver was showing signs of impairment.

The suspect was arrested and taken to the Lambton OPP detachment, where he provided two breath samples over the legal limit.

The 42-year-old has a court date set for August 30.
