Lambton OPP arrest suspect involved in break and enter

Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have made an arrest involving a suspect regarding a break and enter at a residence on Garfield Avenue in Petrolia on June 23.

Officers confirmed with the homeowner that several firearms were stolen.

Police officials said they were able to identify the suspect and have recently taken the individual into custody. During the arrest, officers found the stolen firearms as well as a prohibited weapon.

As a result, 45-year-old Herbert McDonald, of St. Clair Township has been charged with break and enter, multiple counts of possession of a firearm and weapon, two counts of possession of a firearm to prohibition and multiple counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The accused has been held in custody following a bail hearing.
