Local law firm supports new lab at Bluewater Health

Significant, ongoing upgrades to Bluewater Health's laboratory are getting a boost from a local law firm.

Fleck Law has contributed $250,000 toward the estimated $2 million project cost.

"We are honored to help support the needs of Bluewater Health by contributing to the new lab," said Pascale Daigneault and Carl E. Fleck, Q.C. of Fleck Law.

"These challenging times have reinforced the importance of this project, which plays a crucial role in patient care at our local hospital."

Bluewater Health Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said the lab is over 10 years old, and repairs have become more frequent which has slowed the delivery of results.

She said over a million chemistry tests are performed at Bluewater Health each year.

"We know that 70 per cent of all healthcare decisions involve diagnostic results from the lab," said Alexander. "So, this is a crucial piece of equipment, it will be a tremendous upgrade for the entire hospital. We're just completely thrilled by the generosity of this donation."

Alexander said they've been able to raise about $800,000 so far, and are still seeking donations.
