Canada Day celebrations are expected to be low key again this year.
The City of Sarnia has cancelled its big parade and festivities at Canatara Park and Centennial Park for a second year in a row.
Recreation Coordinator Rachel Veilleux said changing COVID-19 restrictions made it too difficult to plan, but they're still considering some smaller possibilities to mark the day.
"The Sarnia Canada Day Committee has been reviewing plans for this year's Canada Day for many months, and continues to do so, to ensure that whatever celebrations occur are in accordance with provincial framework and reopening steps," said Veilleux.
Details on the possible plans aren't being shared until they're confirmed.
Prior to the pandemic, thousands of people would line the streets for the parade and file into the parks afterward.
Sarnia Transit and Care-a-Van will not operate on Canada Day, but the service will resume on Friday, July 2, 2021.
The Grand Bend Canada Day Celebrations Committee posted on its Facebook page in May that there would be no fireworks display this year.
