Slight drop in active COVID-19 cases reported

Lambton Public Health reported 38 active COVID-19 cases on Saturday, which is one less than Friday.

Five new cases were reported in the region, bringing the number of total cases since the start of the pandemic to 3,481. Six recoveries were also reported bringing the total number of resolved cases up to 3,383.

There are still two active COVID-19 outbreaks.

Bluewater Health has started accepting COVID-19 patients from Manitoba. However, according to its website, the number of patients in hospital with the virus remains at five which is unchanged from Friday.

The province reported 1,057 new COVID-19 infections and 15 deaths related to the virus.

Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliot said as of 8 p.m. Friday, 8,839,445 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered.
