Police investigating 'senseless mischief' at Canatara, Bright's Grove area

Sarnia police are investigating what they call acts of senseless mischief in the Bright's Grove area and at Canatara Park.

Police received 14 reports of vehicles being keyed and having their tires slashed in the area of Old Lakeshore Road, Morningside Drive, and Poplar Lane.

It's believed to have happened sometime between the late evening hours of Saturday, May 1, and the early morning hours of Sunday May 2.

Police said someone also torched a portion of the Rotary Club play equipment in Canatara Park, melting the plastic.

The damage was not extensive, but the equipment will need to be replaced.

Police said the acts serve no purpose other than to cost individuals money, inconvenience people, and deface our community.

They do not believe the Canatara Park and lakeshore incidents are related.

Anyone with information about either case is asked to call the Sarnia Police Service at 519-344-8861, extension 0, or Sarnia Lambton Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
