Sting's Rees fails to make Canada's final world junior roster

Sarnia Sting forward Jamieson Rees was one of nine players to be cut on the final day of Team Canada's World Junior Selection Camp in Red Deer, Alberta.

Team Canada whittled down its roster to the maximum of 25 players allowed to take part.

The 19-year-old Rees, who was a second round pick of the Carolina Hurricanes in 2019, put up 18 goals and 43 assists for 61 points in just 39 contests last season.

Other cuts made Friday include, Seth Jarvis, Mavrik Bourque, Samuel Poulin, Graeme Clarke, Gage Goncalves, Donovan Sebrango, Lukas Cormier, and Ryan O'Rourke.

The tournament gets underway on Christmas Day in Edmonton and Red Deer.

Team Canada will play its first game on Boxing Day against Germany.
