Body of missing boater recovered by OPP

Lambton OPP say the body of a Sarnia man who fell from a boat late Saturday afternoon has been recovered.

The OPP's Underwater Search and Recovery Unit made the discovery Tuesday.

Police reported Sunday that they responded at around 5:10 p.m. October 31 to a report of a person having fallen from a vessel on Lake Huron near the mouth of the St. Clair River.

The individual failed to resurface.

Sarnia Police Service, Point Edward Fire Department, Lambton County Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC), U.S. Coast Guard and the St. Clair County Sheriff’s dive team all assisted with the search.

The man has been identified as 31-year-old Christopher DeGroot.
