Petrolia firefighters respond to collisions, elevator rescue over Thanksgiving

Petrolia & North Enniskillen Fire Department had a busy Thanksgiving weekend, which included two motor vehicle crashes.

Chief Jays Arns said a youth was taken to hospital with injuries following a dirt-bike accident.

On Sunday morning, firefighters responded to a single-vehicle rollover on Petrolia Line.

"It was an early morning incident, can't really determine a cause," said Arns, "It was single-vehicle occupant and one person was assessed by Lambton EMS on scene."

Arns said the streak of daily runs began Friday with an elevator rescue call.

"And then that led into an alarm call in a different building, then we had [the] dirt-bike accident [and] vehicle rollover. Elevators are limited in Petrolia, but we do have a number of calls a year for elevator rescues for people who are trapped in elevators, so we do have all the equipment and training here to be able to manage those kind of incidents."
