Sarnia among locations added for asymptomatic testing at pharmacies

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced Friday that more pharmacies in the province, including in Sarnia, will begin offering asymptomatic COVID testing.

Ford told a news briefing that in addition to 60 others in the province that opened as of Friday, up to 18 more will open as early as Tuesday, September 29.

He said the expansion includes locations in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, London, Windsor, Sarnia, Bright's Grove, Kitchener-Waterloo, Cambridge, Brantford, Chatham, Stratford, Woodstock, and St. Thomas. And he added the province will continue expanding testing to more pharmacies in the coming weeks.

A list of specific stores was not immediately available but he gave a "shout-out" to Shoppers Drug Mart.

Earlier this week, the province announced that Ontario assessment centres struggling with increased demand, will no longer be testing asymptomatic people with no contact to cases, outbreaks, or who don't work in high-risk jobs.

Further information about COVID-19 tests and testing centres including pharmacies and assessment centres can be found here.
