Officials said the incident happened at the Blackwell Road dog park around 7 p.m.
The medium sized dog, was black and white in colour and a possible husky mix.
Anyone with information relating to the location of the dog and its owner is asked to call the health unit at 519-383-8331 or toll-free at 1-800-667-1839.
If the dog is not found, the man will require post-exposure rabies shots.
