Weir cracks top 10 in first senior tour major

Mike Weir had an impressive showing in his first-ever major tournament on the PGA Tour Champions, finishing in a tie for 10th at the Players Championship.

The Bright's Grove native fired a final round of 2-over 72 to finish 5-over for the tournament, eight shots back of winner Jerry Kelly.

It was Weir's second tournament on the senior tour, after finishing in a tie for 27th at the Ally Challenge earlier this month.

The eight-time PGA Tour winner and 2003 Masters Champion turned 50 earlier this year, making him eligible for the senior tour.
