UPDATE: Hydro crews work to restore power to several areas

Some residents in southwestern Ontario may be without power for the night after heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts swept across the region.

Hydro One is reporting several power outages that span across southwestern and midwestern Ontario as a result of Sunday's weather. As thunderstorms moved across the region, tornado warnings were also issued for areas such as London-Middlesex, and Huron and Perth Counties.

Although power has been restored to many Hydro One customers, there are still some small outages in areas such as Brigden, Petrolia, and Kerwood. There is also a large power outage in Alvinston, affecting approximately 570 Hydro One customers.

Power was initially expected to be restored by 11 p.m., however, the restoration times have now been pushed to midnight.

Bluewater Power is assisting Hydro One in Alvinston with some downed power lines on Old Walnut Road.

There are also several smaller power outages scattered around Huron County.

A severe thunderstorm watch has ended for Windsor-Essex, Chatham-Kent, Sarnia-Lambton, and London-Middlesex.
