UPDATE: Possible chemical spill in Talfourd Creek

Shell Canada is continuing to investigate a possible chemical spill at the Shell Manufacturing Centre in Corunna.

In a message on the Community Awareness and Emergency Response line, a spokesperson for the company said a sheen was spotted in Talfourd Creek, to the north of the refinery, Tuesday evening.

A Chemical Valley Emergency Coordinating Organization (CVECO) Code 10 was issued by Shell at around 9 p.m.

The company reported the sheen was contained and vacuum trucks were deployed to remove it from the water.

The situation was being closely monitored and an investigation into the cause is ongoing.
