COVID outbreak at Bluewater Health declared over

A coronavirus outbreak at Bluewater Health has ended two weeks after several staff members tested positive.

On June 15, Bluewater Heath closed a unit within the hospital that was created to assist Vision Nursing Home with its COVID-positive patients. Lambton Public Health declared an official outbreak two days later when four workers from the unit tested positive.

It has been 15 days since the last infected staff member began self-isolation, and the hospital said it currently has no patients infected with COVID-19 in acute care.

As of Saturday evening the Lambton Health Unit reported the local caseload remained steady at 285, unchanged for a full week, with 253 recovered, up one from Friday.

The death toll remains at 25.
