Bogus bills bamboozle Sarnia business

Sarnia police are reminding the public to be careful when accepting American money after a local business deposited counterfeit $20 American bills at an area bank.

After realizing the bills were counterfeit, the bank contacted police and the organization that made the deposit. Police said, unfortunately, that business is now out of the funds.

Police said the situation could have been avoided if more time was taken to look over the bills before they were accepted, which read "For Motion Picture Use Only" at the top.

Police said counterfeit American bills can be even harder to detect at times due to the fact they are made out of paper.
