UPDATE: Sarnia police make arrest in manhunt

Sarnia police made an arrest Saturday in the search for a man believed to be injured and possibly armed.

Jan Wilen was being sought in connection with an incident that occurred around 11 p.m. Friday near the 1300 block of Blackwell Road, northeast of Michigan Avenue.

Following an altercation between two males, police say one male was taken into custody while the other evaded police.

Police said they believed the man was seriously injured and possibly armed with a firearm, resulting in an intensive manhunt.

The service announced via Twitter over the noon hour Saturday that the suspect had been apprehended without incident.

By 10 a.m. Saturday police had cleared the area of Blackwell Trails Park and access to the Howard Watson Nature Trail from Michigan Avenue to Modeland Road had reopened. The block of Cathcart Boulevard, Michigan Avenue, Murphy Road and Modeland Road was cleared and declared safe for public use. -With files from Dave Dentinger
