City storm water management facilities will be closed at times this week for phragmites eradication. Weather permitting, the Heritage Park, Twin Lakes, and 402 Business Park facilities will be temporarily closed for pesticide spraying Tuesday. Wednesday the Suncor Nature Way storm water facility on Modeland Road will be fully closed to the public from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. The areas have a high concentration of phragmites, an invasive perennial grass which has been causing damage to storm water management facilities. The public is to avoid the areas for their safety. Signs are being posted and a spotter will be on site to guard against pedestrians inadvertently entering the work zones. After eradication, a seed mix will be applied to allow native species to return to the area and limit the opportunity for invasive species to again take hold.
