St. Clair Township is hoping to walk, run, and ride its way to $150,000 for the Moore Sports Complex.
The town is taking part in this year's ParticiPACTION Community Better Challenge, an initiative where communities across the country compete to be crowned Canada's Most Active Community.
Councillor Tracy Kingston said St. Clair residents can help by signing up and downloading the ParticiPACTION app and tracking their "active minutes".
"Running, biking, wheeling, spin-class, gardening, and even housework counts. It's really any kind of activity-- it doesn't have to be jogging, or aerobics class, it can be very simple as long as you're moving," said Kingston.
At the conclusion of the event, which runs from May 31 to June 16, the community with the most active minutes will win the top prize of $150,000, while regional finalists will walk away with $20,000.
Kingston said any money would certainly help with their $35 million revitalization project at the local sports complex.
"The money would go to some of the projects at the Moore Sports Complex-- it hasn't been specifically earmarked, but we have lots to do down at the sports complex," said Kingston.
The challenge is open to all Canadians, as well as organizations, schools, sports groups and workplaces as a team.
