For the first time in nearly 30 years, unionized plumbers and steamfitters across Ontario are on strike. The 12,000 workers, including those at Local 663, walked off the job Saturday. The two sides could not agree on work week hours, and no word yet when negotiations will resume. Sheet metal workers in Ontario walked off the job a month ago. The 4,000 unionized workers are fighting over work week hours as well. The Sarnia, Chatham and Windsor workers are with Local 235.
