Weir qualifies for 2019 U.S. Open tournament

Bright's Grove's Mike Weir will be playing in the PGA Tour's U.S. Open tournament for the first time since 2013.

Weir qualified for the event at Pebble Beach after finishing in a tie for fifth place in qualifying over the weekend.

He'll be joined at the event by fellow Canadian Nick Taylor of Abbotsford, BC who placed first in the qualifier.

Weir is a 2003 Masters champion and is 39th on the PGA earnings list at just under $28 million.

The tournament runs from June 13 to 16.
