New long-term care beds in Middlesex

The provincial government has announced 49 new long-term care beds in Middlesex County.

Funding for most of the beds, 32, goes to Sprucedale Care Centre in Strathroy.

Ailsa Craig's Craigwiel Garden gets nine beds, and Omni Health Care Ltd. of Komoka eight beds.

As well 203 out-of-date beds are being redeveloped, 120 at the Komoka facility and 83 in Ailsa Craig.

Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton made the announcement, saying it's part of the Doug Ford government's commitment to add 15,000 long-term care beds in five years.
