Driver in crash allegedly impaired by drug

A 33-year-old Sarnia man is charged with being impaired by drug after a minor crash in the city around 9:15 a.m. Thursday morning.

Police say a westbound pick-up truck rear-ended another vehicle that was stopped to turn left into a parking lot on London Road near East Street.

The responding officer alleged the driver of the pick-up was having difficulty following instructions, and he formed reasonable grounds to arrest him for being impaired by marijuana.

The man was charged after being brought to police headquarters for tests, and was released with a court date of March 19, 2019, at 9:30 a.m., in Sarnia.

No one was hurt in the collision and there was only minor damage to the vehicles.
