There was a hydrocarbon release Thursday afternoon at NOVA Chemicals Corunna site. Company Communications Consultant Meaghan Lawrence, in an email, said the issue had been isolated on-site, and there were no off-site readings at this time. A Chemical Valley Emergency Coordinating Organization (CVECO) alert was issued with the all-clear being given at 4:08 p.m. according to Aamjiwnaang's notification system. The First Nation reported that the isolated leak involved benzene. Lawrence said plant personnel were continuing to investigate and manage on-site activities.
