City hires new economic development officer

The City of Sarnia is welcoming a new member to their Community Development and Services Department.

Monica Shepley will fill the vacant Economic Development Officer role starting Monday.

Department Director Alan Shaw said the Sarnia-native will be a great fit for the city.

"I think Monica has a lot of good and new ideas. She brings a lot of experience in regards to economic development and promotion of development within the city," said Shaw. "She will be undertaking the review of the department in regards to new investment, reinvestment and diversification in Sarnia."

Shepley spent the past four years as the manager of advocacy and policy development with the Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce.

The economic development officer role has been vacant since July of 2017 when Peter Hungerford retired.
