New discount program launched at Blue Water Bridge

Frequent travellers to the U.S across the Blue Water Bridge can now access a pre-paid discounted toll program.

Federal Bridge Corporation spokesman Andre Girard said drivers can register online for the new ConneXion program as of Monday.

"That will give you a $0.25 cent per axle reduction, instead of paying $4, you'll pay $3.50," said Girard. "The way the system works is you have to register and have money in the bank, so you upload money in your account and as soon as you cross the tolls, you're automatically deducted. More efficient than any of the systems we've had in the past."

Girard says once registered, a radio-frequency identification device will be sent through the mail to be mounted in your vehicle.

He says the system is for non-commercial, U.S bound Blue Water Bridge travellers only.
