Petrolia voter turnout over 30 per cent

Municipal election interest seems to be trending higher in Petrolia than other Lambton County communities.

As of Thursday morning, internet and phone voting in the town was at 31 per cent.

Petrolia has a three-way race for mayor with John McCharles not seeking re-election.

Former town clerk and CAO Brad Loosley, Councillor Liz Welsh, and Bob Maniuk a former councillor in the mid-90s are vying to be the next mayor.

As of 9 a.m. Thursday, 11,622 voters in the city had cast ballots, 22.8 per cent of the 51,000 eligible voters. Plympton-Wyoming's participation rate was 22.3 per cent.

Voting continues until 8 p.m. Monday.

We'll have live coverage of the results on 103.9FM and 1070 CHOK, and www.blackburnnewssarnia.com at that time.
