Legion Supports Home Of Namesake Hockey Team

The Sarnia Legion has made a generous donation to the home of the Legionnaires.

Branch 62 of the Royal Canadian Legion has provided $10,000 to the Sarnia Arena revitalization fundraising campaign for a new sound system at the Brock St. barn.

Branch 62 is a major supporter of the Sarnia Legionnaires of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Les Jones, second Vice-President of the Legion, says their donation comes from proceeds from their highly successful Catch the Ace game.

Sarnia Parks and Recreation Director Rob Harwood says about 75% of the arena project is complete, and they're in the home stretch of their $492,000 fundraising campaign.

The overall revitalization project is also one-third funded by the city and one-third by the federal government.

The work includes improving energy efficiency, facade and exterior repair, and lobby and concession, and washroom upgrades.
