The Sarnia Sting scored three unanswered goals on their way to a Game 5 win at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
The Sting beat the Windsor Spitfires 4-2 to take a 3-2 lead in their OHL Western Conference quarterfinal series. Sarnia can advance as soon as Sunday afternoon.
The Spitfires drew first blood when Tyler Angle scored on the power play at 4:06 in the opening period. It was his first score of the playoffs. Sarnia tied the game before the intermission on a goal from Cam Dineen.
Sarnia took the lead at 4:46 in the second frame when Sean Josling scored short-handed, his third goal of the postseason.
Michael Pezzetta brought the Sting some insurance with his goal at 4:29 of the final period, extending the Sarnia lead to 3-1. Windsor's Jake Smith responded just 19 seconds later.
Spitfires goalie Michael DiPietro left the game with an injury and was replaced with Brock Baier. Baier was pulled late in regulation for an extra attacker, but Sarnia Hugo Leufvenius scored the empty-netter to give his team the win and the series lead.
DiPietro and Baier combined for 39 saves. Sarnia's Justin Fazio had 23 stops in net.
Game 6 is Easter Sunday at the WFCU Centre. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:05pm.
