St. Patrick's Catholic High School students are hoping for a successful 17th annual Cyclone Aid drive this Saturday.
An unprecedented amount of food was collected last spring, which represented a 28% increase from the year before.
Grade 12 student Co-chair Izzy Kokkinis is optimistic the community may surprise them again.
"We had 34,705 lbs of food and the year before that we had 27,210, so this year, honestly, I think we could set a goal for 35,000 or even 40,000 lbs of food, " said Kokkinis.
Organizers held a pep rally this morning to boost excitement for the Spring collection, in support of the Inn of the Good Shepherd.
Over 300 volunteers, including students, teachers, parents and community partners, will canvass every home in Sarnia, Pt. Edward and Bright's Grove between 8:30am and 1pm.
Residents are encouraged to place their non-perishable food donations outside the door Saturday, to expedite collection.
Donations can also be dropped off at the school during that time.
