The Sarnia Police Service is reminding you to be responsible and stay safe during Saturday's St. Patrick's Day festivities.
Constable John Sottosanti says those who are out celebrating will notice a heavy police presence especially in the downtown area.
St. Patrick's Day falls on a weekend for the first time since 2013, so Sottosanti says police are ready for a busier day than in years past.
"Our officers are prepared and fully aware of what they have to deal with, we're just asking everyone to be responsible with their drinking during this festive day."
One place that's sure to be packed is Paddy Flaherty's, Sarnia's only Irish Pub.
Co-owner Angela Smolders says it's their biggest day of the year.
"We open the doors at 11 and there's usually a lineup. We have a live-band playing, a corn beef and cabbage feature meal, and we'll be pouring a lot of Guinness and green beer throughout the day."
The pub will not have their "Paddy Wagon" shuttle service this year, so Smolders says make sure you plan a ride home ahead of time.
Constable Sottosanti also says if you're hosting a party, make sure you're guests have a safe ride home or a place to spend the night.
Police are asking residents to please call 9-1-1 if you see someone acting inappropriately or driving under the influence.
