Barn Destroyed By Fire In North Lambton

Damage could run as high as $1-million following a barn fire in Lambton Shores.

Fire Chief Lawrence Swift says the wooden building was fully engulfed when Thedford and Northville stations arrived at the scene on Kennedy Line at 1:50am Friday morning.

"It was a total loss," says Chief Swift. "We had to call in Forest, Arkona and Parkhill stations, with about 50 firefighters managing to save the farmer's home and other buildings.

"Farm equipment, potatoes and onions were being stored in the big barn located about halfway between Northville and Thedford. We used about 75,000 gallons of water to put out the fire and had to call in other stations with their water pumpers."

The cause, although believed to be electrical in nature, will go down as undetermined because of the extent of the damage.
